Today's just one of those days where I have strange cravings for tomatoes and don't give a damn about anybody else.
I'm also on my monthlies, but that's beside the point.
Australia has been amazing so far. The work hasn't started in earnest, so we've just had time to ourselves for a week getting to know the campus, our homestays, TRP projects and introductory lectures.
(by the way, this library study room was perfectly warm before they remembered to turn on the AC. you're killing the planet and ME people.)
(yeah, i really should be staying away from people today.)
I've been reading a lot, lately, I've been feeling a craving for words. But I'm reading fanfiction, stories about Quinn Fabray in various universes (mostly loving Rachel, but in some stories that's not so important) because these writers have a habit of portraying her as someone I recognize to be very similar to myself. She gets lost in words, too, and the little things that to both of us really mean big ideas. No matter how rebellious she's portrayed, Quinn is always softer, gentler, quieter on the inside. And maybe I'm reading so much into her because I'm trying to figure out how to make a life of dreams and imagination work.
Right now I'm a little lost in the words to write very well, but very soon I'm going to have to dig myself out of this hole and read facts rather than dreams, write words rather than eat them. And the whole thing makes me very sad. I'm not ready yet.
So I can't write about Australia properly yet because I'm still stuck in a different country. Never fear that I am in fact having a good time, paying attention to the world around me, but walking through it nonetheless in a rather misted state. Dreaming's a big part of the aboriginal culture here, and dreaming I've been, searching for something. And I apologize if the term was used incorrectly.
